• Immediately after your treatment, you may experience a sensation of intense heat, similar to a severe sunburn, in the treated area. This sensation may persist for 6-24 hours post-treatment. Taking a pain reliever like Panadol and staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water can help alleviate these symptoms.

• Some swelling, itchiness, and puffiness, especially around the eyes, may occur. Antihistamines such as Telfast can be used to alleviate these discomforts. It's important to note that these experiences are normal and should subside gradually.

• You may notice pinpoint markings or bruising, which is a normal occurrence and will fade over time with the use of post-care products. It may take up to 6 weeks for these markings to blend into the surrounding skin.

• During the first 1-3 days after the treatment, redness will gradually transition to pinkness/sensitivity and tenderness. Swelling will start to subside, and the outer layer of the skin may feel dehydrated and rough. It is essential to resist the temptation to exfoliate the skin prematurely and allow it to naturally shed. Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water can support this process.

• Small white pimples or congestion may appear, indicating the formation of new skin (collagen). It is crucial to refrain from picking or touching these areas, as they will be addressed by the post-care products recommended for your treatment.

• You can gently wash your skin with warm water and a gel or foam cleanser 1-3 days after the treatment.

• Around 3 days after the treatment, you may notice grazing, followed by peeling and flaking of the skin. It is important to avoid picking or forcibly removing the skin, as it will naturally exfoliate when it's ready, similar to a snake shedding its skin.

• Post-treatment care is paramount for achieving the best results. Using a post-treatment cream or a deep moisturiser enriched with hyaluronic acid, as recommended by Ebony, can help promote healing and hydration.

Additionally, it is highly recommended to schedule a follow-up skin peel and LED light treatment approximately 2-4 weeks after the initial treatment. This can aid in the repair and exfoliation process, enhancing the overall results.

• To ensure optimal healing and results, there are certain things to avoid. Refrain from touching the treated skin for at least 6 hours after the procedure.

• Avoid undergoing any further treatments for 2 weeks and avoid using exfoliation products for 5-7 days. Active ingredient products should be avoided for 7 days as well.

• Sun exposure should be minimized, and it is essential to apply sunscreen daily, regardless of the weather conditions. Wearing a hat outdoors can provide additional protection for your skin.

What is a Cosmo Peel?

A Cosmo Peel is a cosmetic procedure where a TCA (trichloroacetic acid) solution is applied to the skin to remove layers of dead skin cells, stimulate new skin growth, and improve skin tone, resulting in a smooth and refreshed appearance. Cosmo Peels are effective in treating rough and dry skin, acne, post-inflammatory pigmentation, fine lines, sun damage, and hormonal pigmentation.

What does the treatment involve?

During a Cosmo Peel treatment, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed to remove any impurities or makeup. A comprehensive skin assessment will be performed by your therapist to determine the most suitable percentage peel for your skin. The Cosmo Peel solution is applied to the treatment area using gauze and left on the skin for up to 12 hours before being rinsed off at home with water. You may experience a tingling or prickling sensation in the first few minutes after the application, which will subside quickly.

Cosmo Peel is a superficial to medium-depth peel that addresses skin aging, improves skin texture and smoothness, reduces sun damage, and minimizes acne and pigmentation scarring. This peel is available in three strengths, and your therapist will select the strength that best suits your skin type and concerns.

Possible side effects include mild to moderate skin shedding.

How many treatments?

For Cosmo Peel treatments, we recommend a series of 3-4 peel sessions at 4-week intervals. After the initial treatments, it is advisable to schedule maintenance sessions every few months.

Please note that the Cosmo Forte treatment is recommended only once a year.

Who can have these treatments?

Cosmo peels are not suitable for individuals who have taken Roaccutane within the last 6 months, have open wounds at the treatment site, or have infections, rosacea, psoriasis, or dermatitis in the area to be treated. Cosmo Peels are also not recommended for breastfeeding mothers.

NOTE: Clients with olive or darker skin tones are required to prepare their skin using our recommended products for 2 weeks prior to the peel treatment.

Aftercare:

Immediately after a Cosmo Peel treatment, your skin may appear lightly flushed. We recommend avoiding water contact and makeup application for 6-12 hours post-treatment (your therapist will advise the specific duration). Depending on the peel percentage used, you may experience mild to severe skin shedding from day 2-14. It is important not to pick at or exfoliate the dead skin prematurely, as this may lead to scarring or post-inflammatory pigmentation. You must use the recommended aftercare cream for the full 7 days. Once the peeling process is complete, you will notice a significant improvement in your skin's complexion. Over the following four to six weeks, your skin's appearance will continue to enhance, becoming more vibrant, clear, firm, and healthy.
